How To Remove Stickers From Wooden Furniture Without Damaging the Surface

We love stickers, just not on our furniture.

Luckily, stickers are easy to remove from your wooden furniture, no matter how long it's been decorating your table or chair. Here's how to remove stickers from wooden furniture without damaging the surface.

To remove a sticker from wooden furniture, you need two simple tools found in any home:

1. A heat gun or hair dryer.

2. A plastic card.

Whichever card you use, DO NOT use a debit or credit card. The heat could melt or damage the card.

Turn the heat gun on to a medium setting and slowly sweep over the sticker, about 4-5 inches away. Do not keep the heat focused on one spot or for too long, you could burn your hand or damage the surface.

This method works on any sticker size and material. Just don't burn your fingers!

Holding the card in your other hand, gently push against a corner to begin lifting the sticker. If you need more heat, keep the heat gun steady as you lift the sticker to help remove it from the surface.

You do not need a lot of pressure to lift the sticker. Too much pressure and not enough heat can tear the sticker and leave more residue behind.

Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to removing stickers.

If the sticker is having a hard time being lifted, set the card down and repeat step one. Sweep some heat over the section you're working on.

This specific sticker is a matte paper, which needs more heat. Standard vinyl stickers need a lot less heat, making them easier to peel off.

When enough of the sticker is lifted, you'll be able to peel the rest with your hand. Carefully focus the heat on the section as you're peeling, until the sticker is completely removed.
